Mosque at Ground zero?

The terrorists were all men too? So should be not allow males to put up anything either? People need to stop comparing these people to the terrorists, they have nothing to do with them, this wasn't done as a slap in the face. The people need to direct their anger towards to right people.

And they also have those same rights to build it a ground zero, two blocks away from the Towers.

My country has come a long way, but these kinds of stories make me ashamed. It's like there's still the same amount of hate, it's just spread out a lot further and not one one or two particular groups anymore. Ashamed.

R13, care to tell me why I should support the building of a mosque at ground zero when the religious leader behind this has made a comment like these:

Hudson New York

"The Islamic method of waging war is not to kill innocent civilians. But it was Christians in World War II who bombed civilians in Dresden and Hiroshima, neither of which were military targets."

"The US and the West must acknowledge the harm they have done to Muslims before terrorism can end."

Rauf is more of an activist, one who has been trying to improve relations with Islam and America for years. Those comments are pretty much on the mark. People don't have to support it, just not act like they don't have a right to do, this can be a very positive thing.

It also helps support that the idiot Palin is blathering about how they shouldn't do it, that should line anyone up on the other side. Especially when she makes up words like "refudiate" in her twitter message against it.

To believe that the Islamic way of waging war is to not harm innocent civilians is laughable and ridiculous. Also, the harm the West has done to Muslims? It has been way more open to Muslims and attempts to ehlp than what they have been to Christians.

No it's not, the fundamentalist is what he was talking about, those are the ones kill innocent civilians. He was right. We've not been too open. What's difference is them coming over here to live and work, not bothering anyone. The "chistians" who go over there wage war in their country, while innocent civilians are killed and there's attempts to convert them over to Christianity...our fault.

He comments that Christians committed atrocities first therefore they should expect retaliation. He's not denouncing the attacks but in a way excusing them. I just have a hard time saying ok to something like that regardless of the faith.

I didn't get that from reading it. I got we don't kill innocent civilians, but they(christians) have a history of doing so. He could have put it a much different way.

How about the Christians who have traveled over there to help the needy and have been slaughtered because of it? How about the cleric leaders in Pakistan and such who offer money for the murder of a Danish cartoonist who drew a cartoon about mohammed? As pvfan says, its much more about him creating an excuse for their atrocities. Plus, when there is war, there will be civilian casualties. I guess he wants to mentioned Hiroshima but forgets the number of civilians killed at Pearl Harbor and the brainworshipping that was done in the Phillipine Islands where people would jump off clips fearing the Americans who were trying to help because of what the Japanese had told them. His reasoning is ridiculous.
